How to change

It’s time. Maybe you want to start meditating, get back to exercising, and cut out sugar. So you buy a gym membership, a floor cushion, and Nag Champa. You throw out your mochi ice cream and feel so ready. Three weeks later you’re back to nachos and youtube. The excuses started coming, and then the defeat, and now guilt.

Change is hard. When it comes to new habits, you can start small and realistic. “I’ll take a gentle yoga class on Thursdays and Sunday will be sweet treat day.

But there’s more to creating lasting change, and it has to do with what’s happening on the inside. Be kind to yourself, turning your “I failed again” into “I can start again.” Learn something about yourself like “hmm, turns out I don’t like sitting in lotus for an hour every morning, but I do like sitting on the couch enjoying 5 minutes of silence before I go to work.“

Creating change is about learning what you truly want and enjoy, and being honest with what you are willing to do.
